Robert J. Jennings Jr. served as a clerk for the MFAA Subcommission at headquarters of the Allied Control Commission (ACC) in Italy. In March 1944, he was seriously injured in an accident. Following weeks of hospitalization, he returned to his post, working in Naples before moving to Rome in July 1944 with Major John Bryan Ward-Perkins, Captain Sheldon Pennoyer, Captain Cecil R. Pinsent, and Staff Sergeant Bernard M. Peebles. That month, Jennings was relieved of his assignment at headquarters and reassigned to MFAA operations in the Toscana Region (Region VIII).
