Captain John W. Harvey
(?–?)

John Harvey served as a Monuments Officer for the Land North Rhine-Westphalia Branch of the British MFAA Section. He investigated suspected repositories for looted works of art and other cultural artifacts in the British Zone of Occupation in Germany alongside Monuments Men Maj. Lionel Perry and Maj. Hugh Murray Baillie. In August 1946 Harvey supervised the transfer of twenty-five truckloads of books and archives belonging to the Düsseldorf Library from the Heimboldshausen Mine to Düsseldorf. The following month, he conducted inspections of multiple castles in southern Germany, including Schloss Pommersfelden, Schloss Gaibach, and Ruedenhausen, all repositories for looted art.
