Jean Rouvier served as a Chief of the Service des Beaux Arts, Government Militaire Francais de l’Autriche (Austria). As an official representative of the French Government in Austria, Rouvier worked closely with British Monuments Officer Maj. R. A. Skelton to identify works of art and other cultural objects looted from France by the Nazis and hidden in the British Zone of Occupation in Austria.
