Ted Moore

After earning a Ph.D. in finance and statistics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Ted joined the faculty of Indiana University in 1982. In 1986 he was appointed Professor of Finance at the University of South Carolina. He was awarded an endowed chair, the Berlinberg Distinguished Professorship in 1996, a position he held until retirement. In 2004 he began serving in various posts in university administration at USC including Vice Provost, Executive Vice President & Provost, and Vice President for Finance & Chief Financial Officer.
Ted is a financial economist and has authored 80 scholarly articles, monographs, book chapters and the book, Real Options & Option-Embedded Securities, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2001. He served as executive editor of the Journal of Financial Research for the period 2000-2005.
Prior to entering the academic world, he served on active duty in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer which included combat in Vietnam in 1968-69, where he was decorated for heroism, meritorious service, and for wounds received in action.
Ted has served on the Board of Telfair Museums in Savannah and was named an Honorary Trustee in 2022. He continues to serve on Telfair’s Budget & Finance Committee and Endowment Committee. In addition to Telfair, he has served on the Ossabaw Island Foundation as Board Chair and the Senior Citizens Board of Directors, and now serves on the Bethesda Academy Board of Governors (former Chair) and the Board of Curators of the Georgia Historical Society (ex officio). Ted is Chair of the Georgia Historical Society Trust which oversees that organization’s endowment.
Ted’s wife Linda is an attorney, specializing in healthcare law. He and Linda proudly call Savannah home.
