Barbara Moroney
Board Member
Barbara Moroney is a Dallas native, graduating high school from the Hockaday School. She earned a BA in American Studies, with a history concentration, from Stanford University in 1979, followed by an MBA from The University of Texas Graduate School of Education in 1983. She married Jim Moroney and worked in commercial real estate prior to starting a family.
Barbara has held leadership positions in schools she and her children attended, serving as President of the parent associations of Cistercian Preparatory School and The Hockaday School and has been additionally engaged at Hockaday as Alumnae Board Chair and member of the Board of Trustees. She has been extensively involved in fundraising and capital campaigns at Hockaday and Stanford. Her dedication to education extends to volunteer and board work with Educational First Steps, which addresses early childhood education, and for the past five years with Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep, which provides its students not only excellence in high school education but also job opportunities with Dallas-area businesses. She chairs the Development Committee.
Barbara and husband Jim have five adult children and four grandchildren. They own and operate Sixmilebridge Vineyards winery in Paso Robles, California. Barbara and Jim share a love of travel and books, history and biography, and value the freedoms and balance of power laid out in the US Constitution.
